I Bike MCR

We took the 450 mile round trip north by road for the I bike MRC festival. Technical challanges and 40kg of heavy plan B equipment ruled out the train as a travel option, so we filled a car with people and bike equipment and headed north to see what the manchester bike scene had to offer!

We arrived just too late on Friday to take part in the MCR critical mass, so we decided to experience the best the city had to offer in the form of ??1 cups of tea, ??2 pints of cider and a curry in what must be the weirdest curry house on the city’s legendary curry mile (which isn’t even a mile long!)?? Then off we went to meet our hosts at the I bike MCR festival launch party which featured rollerpaluza racing and some great manchester bands.

Come rain or shine we had a great day on Satuday powering?? bands in Platt Fields with Primary Colours and taking part in bike races, which initially took place round the lake, yet had to be relocated after a coot was injured during Adam’s heat and the RSPCA had to be called out!

Saturday night in the city followed in the same vein as Friday’s excitement and we were sad to take the road back south, sad we hadn’t brought our bikes and very sad that we had made the trip in a car! However, we’ve learnt from our mistakes and we’re going to start logging every MR trip to track our travel emissions and travel method. Watch this space.
