Once again, we ran a couple of workshops. In our usual tradition we were offered an unusual space to do our 1st workshop under. Yes, under is the word, as the spot was under a railway bridge arch on Union Street. We were kindly allowed to run the workshop there by The Union Street Urban Orchard. The orchard is a temporary community space celebrating the Festival of Architecture.
We had a great turn out of 18 people and to our benefit the Met Office got it wrong. It did not rain all day! We were also super delighted that M. Norton, who so kindly invited us to be a pilot social venture on Buzzbank (crowd funding for social ventures), came to the workshop.
It all went really well and people left looking satisfied. Everyone had loads of energy and enthusiasm. We shall later find out how well that enthusiasm turns into practical action…(we got their contact details and we shall used them).
Next day, we did another workshop with a smaller group called Ealing Bike Hub www.ealingbikehub.co.uk in the basement of Greenford Park Residents Association Hall. Ealing Bike Hub are a community-based organisation that runs maintenance courses, passes on second hand bikes and run cycle instruction sessions.
