As some of you may know we’ve been trying to get ourselves settled into an office. Starting from scratch ( no space and no money) has proven to be a challenging journey but nevertheless a rewarding one. We might be getting you excited but we’re not at the end of the journey yet. But believe us, soon you can come and visit us at our new nest in the heart of the Hackney City Farm. And as we’re magnificent, our new office will be in a really special place…..the pig-sty. We’re going to be sharing a space with the pigs tucked away in the corner of the animal yard.
We won’t have to listen out for Larry, the donkey, as we’ll be his neighbours. We have many people to thank for this dream come true!
The Castle Climbing Centre has awarded us a sum to be able to do an eco-refurbishment of a space at the farm and to combine the building with some free courses about sustainable building materials and methods. The castle has been very patient as the process of getting a space has taken a while. Carl Turner Architects have been helping us with ideas, design, project management and planning application and we’re going to have an office out of an old shipping container. Maybe one day we can ship ourselves across the sea. We would also like to thank the farm staff and trustees for having us. We hope that in exchange we can run free events for the farm’s many and diverse visitors.
We’ll soon find out when the building commences and be sure that we’ll need help. Look out for the call out if you fancy learning a few eco-refurbishment skills………
