Dorset, bats and smoothies

Dorset, bats and smoothies

Last month we were invited by Anna Best to Dorset. We went to celebrate a new Sustrans cycle path that will be opening up soon. The path is set in an outstanding place of natural beauty on what used to be an old railway track.  As part of our trip we pedal powered some tunes and blended few smoothies. We have to say that when we were asked to do pedal powered refreshment with limited kit, we thought of….” smoothies”…. of course. However, we didn’t think it through very well. The fact that January is not exactly the fruit season hit us at a later stage by the shelves of the stores. All that fruit flown in from land far far away was pretty upsetting. Lessons learned! The kids absolutely loved it, so we didn’t cry. But we’ve decided that we won’t be offering the smoothie delights till the seasons allows…

On another note, if all goes well, we will be going back down to Dorset in June/July to run some workshops in schools, do a cinema in the forest and install a pedal power monitor for  live web cam observing roosting bats at one of the old stations on the railway line. Fingers crossed!
