Backwood

Backwood

May, the month of Wood. Still in its infancy, and only its second year running, Wood festival was a great milestone for Mag Rev. So much interesting stuff happened that the woody adventures may be too much of a tale to tell but we gonna give it a super summary shot…so here we go:

Miles traveled by bikes: 150
Weight pulled: 60kg
Bearings crunched: 2
Inner tubes exploded: 2
Punctures: 2
Buckled wheels: 1
Trailers pulled: 2
No. of old ladies discussed by our “Bike or Die” flag: too many to count
No. of policeman randomly wandering in the fields while we ate our lunch: 3
No. of people at wood generating electricity with bikes: 250
No. of acts powered: 6
No. of DJs powered: 4
No. of bands powering themselves: 1

This year we managed to do Wood festival with even greater success than last time. We attempted our very 1st Pedal Sessions: pedal powered sounds and video recordings of bands.  The Pedal Sessions were a guaranteed success as our bicycle wonder even managed to impress Stewie Juices: the soundman and a new honorary member of the Mag Rev crew. With four bicycles and no battery in sight, we managed to produce a music venue with a great crisp sound, an intimate atmosphere and do live recording of all the acts. We felt proud! Phil Ball, the cameraman and his crew came down to shoot some film footage. Thanks guys! Soon we’ll posting all this good material on our website, so keep your eyes peeled.

The other interesting happening worth mentioning is the fact that this year we managed to get to Wood without the van. Another brownie point for the revolution. We substituted the van for 2 trailers pulled by bikes and a Punto that drove from London and delivered our soundman, his lady and rest of the kit that didn’t fit onto the trailers. We could go on and on, bigging ourselves up BUT, we’re not perfect and we also didn’t perfectly control the transport issue regarding all the people involved in the work that happened in our tent. Do to lack of communication between us and the film crew, a few of them came down from Oxford by car (grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr) but at least they managed to stay locally over the weekend. We’re all just human and can’t get it all right. The important part is that we can evaluate, reassess, dust ourselves off and move on, knowing that next time we can do things differently!

And on top of that, as always, we kept it fashionable! (there would be pictures in this blog…if we didn’t have tech difficulties with our website)
