More news from the Climate Camp. Today was a scorcher. Sun means power for the camp, so let’s hope nature will stand us in good favour. More and more people arriving to the site. Police getting rowdy. Our day started with a 5am call out to the gates. “The riot police is here, people get to the gate.” The police had a shift change and decided to spice their morning up by bullying a harmless group of people by marching towards the gate in full riot gear. By the time we got there, the show was over and small crowd of peaceful people were just sitting there creating a small blockade. Intimidation seems to be the key for the police here.
Afterwards, Mag Rev decided to continue their beauty sleep in the field, complete with tributary, police land rover and few rather bored looking wandering police man. For the rest of day, we did some work for the revolution… a few quotes, blogs and all that sort of business. Lucy checked out a presentation on concentrated solar power, Adam did a run to the shops, picking up some lager for the chef at the London kitchen….trying to keep them sweet as they are churning out some amazing vegan treats. The food has been amazing here, keeping the revolutionaries vitamins on the high.
Later on we ran the pedal powered internet cafe allowing people to blog their experiences of climate camp and keeping in touch with the outside world. What happens next? Bolivian dancing, rum drinking and maybe even some pedal powered disco. That is if we find Ian with his small PA. We’re loving it and are extending our stay till Friday. The show goes on…
